The authors

Elisabeth Roest Kempemo and Brigitte Waller-Rengelink, both avid dog lovers, got to know each other through their barbets. They were both smitten with the breed on their very first encounter, and soon had their own barbets at home. For both of them this was coincidentally in 2007. Elisabeth was living in Sweden at that time, and Brigitte in the Netherlands. When Elisabeth moved to the Netherlands, the two women met via the breed association. They became friends, and soon enjoyed long walks together with their dogs, the main subject of discussion being ‘barbets’, their passionate hobby. Elisabeth and Brigitte both train their dogs on the basis of positive reward techniques, and have experience with various dog sports, such as obedience, agility, tracking and hunting training. They are both breeders, and Brigitte is also president of the barbet breed association in the Netherlands.
